It's totally counter-productive and won't help anyway.Patience and commitment is key to training any behavior. When a dog is 'down' it can't knock over furniture or children. Talk to them like they were a human child. At completion praise lavishly and reward. So, here's how NOT to train your dog:- Forget that your dog has a nature unlike yours.Make the hand gesture, issue the voice command and move a treat or toy from the dog's chin to the ground while pulling gently on the leash. Praise and reward anyway, even though you had to 'force' the sit. When the dog is in position, praise lavishly even though you executed the movement not the dog. When you see it give a unique voice command and hand gesture pair. Most dogs won't go own the first few times. Never reward until the behavior is complete - Also don't become tense or angry after failure.Repetition, consistency (reward only for the proper action), and enthusiasm will quickly lead to learning the 'sit'.As a result, it can be frustrating to repeat the same command over and over, only to have the dog apparently ignore you.Part of that patience means keeping your temper when you would like to lash out physically. For the slow learner or assertive dog, it may be necessary to use a collar and short leash - two to four feet is best - 'Sit' the dog and kneel down facing him. They don't associate cause and effect in the same way.It also has practical benefits. At first, the dog will have no idea why you're so happy. But dogs tend to be happy when the alpha is, and upset when he is.First, take advantage of the dog's spontaneous behavior. If the dog backs up do the technique near the couch or a fence where he has nowhere to go. Now bring out other techniques. There are alternate explanations for their behavior.Patience is the number one required quality, therefore. Minimize noise and movement distractions during the training session. After several repetitions try just using a 'waving down' hand movement, palm toward the floor or ground. Dog Training - How NOT To Train Your DogJust about every dog owner truly wants to train their dog well. Fortunately, almost every dog can learn 'sit' quickly. Try to be away from other voices. As a last resort, for the stubborn or slow learner, give the command and at the same time push gently on the back near the tail as you lift his chin. Punish them for not behaving the way you want. Wait for the response. Physical punishment just isn't an effective training technique. But they can be easily distracted, or fail to associate today's case of 'come' with yesterday's action and subsequent reward. 'Down' is one effective technique for

The American Eskimo Dog is a breed of companion dog and semi-sled dog originating in the USA. In addition to serving as a companion, it has been used as a watchdog, sled dog, and also achieved a high degree of popularity in the 1930s and 1940s United States as a circus performer even as early as 1917 at the Cooper Brother's Railroad Circus. One of many American Eskimo Dogs to walk a tightrope was an American Eskimo by the name of Stout's Pal Pierre in the Barnum & Bailey Circus. "PR" Stout's Pal Pierre was from a long line of American Eskimos used in Barnum and Bailey's Circus acts. Pierre's grandfather was the first known dog in the world to walk a tight rope. The breed became popular as circuses would sell the puppies during their travels across the nation. The American Kennel Club recognized the breed in 1994 and set the current standard for the breed. The United Kennel Club had recognized the breed long before 1994, and there is no difference between the two breed standards except that the AKC recognizes the toy size, while the UKC does not. The American Eskimo Dog was accepted into the Canadian Kennel Club CKC Recognition Of The American Eskimo Dog as of March 2006. CKC (Canadian Kennel Club).
